The Window of the Face

The Goodfield Method™ is a precision-targeted psychotherapy procedure specifically designed to pinpoint and relieve extreme traumatic stress – within 6-8 weeks, medication-free. The Goodfield procedure literally “sees” the unconscious via a stimuli- aided videography process so sensitive it can detect even the briefest, most subtle facial responses to stimuli. These unvoiced facial reactions are known as Non-Verbal Leaks or NVLs. Because they are generated unconsciously, their appearance cannot be prevented, controlled, or manipulated in any way. They are what they are. The truth. Pure, spontaneous, involuntary – and intimately revealing. When observed in the course of patient counseling, the trained therapist can explore these leaks to more quickly identify and isolate the exact right “anxiety triggers” on which to base a customized remedial strategy. The Goodfield Method™ is one of the few psychotherapy procedures to have ever earned a U.S. patent (patent number 3,991,744). Today, under the auspices of The Goodfield Institute, it is in active use by governments, military agencies, and therapists on five continents.
